Ted Brandsen’s “Coppelia,” a ballet of triumphant, true love, will be staged at the Dutch National Opera, Amsterdam, from December 10, 2016 through January 1, 2017.The ballet, which originally created by Arthur Saint-Leon and Leo Delibes, tells the tale of Franz, who abandons his lover Swanhilda after falling in love with a life-size animated doll. A feel-good comedy suitable for the entire family, this adaptation of “Coppelia” is designed by Sieb Posthuma and François-Noël Cherpin, who create an aesthetic for the show akin to that of an illustrated storybook, with retro-futuristic costumes and an excess of color that make the 19th century fable of fabricated beauty accessible to a new generation.Ted Brandsen's “Coppelia” will be staged at the Dutch National Opera, Amstel 3, 1011 PN Amsterdam.
