Coming soon at The Brick, New York is “Cheeks” directed by Scott Sheppard. It is part of the “The NY Clown Theatre Festival 2018.”The act is written and performed by Lee Minora. Costumes are by Emilie Krause. The runtime of the show is 60 minutes.“Lady Elizabeth Edwards has been making art in solitude. ‘Cheeks’ is brutal clown show that combines contemporary stand-up bouffon clown and hands-on audience play. Laugh through your fear while this one-woman beast sucks the marrow from your funny bone all while taking on the tropes of our most revered female artists. ‘Cheeks’ is Jane Austen with a handgun,” says The Brick website.Minora is Philadelphia-based artist. She makes her international debut at Silk with PBH Free Fringe. Sheppard is the co-creator of “Underground Railroad Game,” for which he won an OBIE award for Best New American Work.Lee Minora’s website writes: “Imagine a production of ‘The Belle of Amherst’ performed by 30 Rock’s Jenna Maroney, and you’ll have some idea of what ‘Cheeks’ is like. Tim Dunleavy, DC Metro Arts says, “Minora is marvelous, never slipping out of character and performing with a high level of commitment.”“Cheeks” premiered at the 2016 Philadelphia fringe was produced by the berserker residents. In January 2017, the show was remounted at Good Good Comedy. In the summer of 2017, it toured to the Scranton Fringe Festival.Minora is famous for another show called “White Feminist.” The show was developed and first premiered at The Wilma Theater. This summer the show will go on tour to San Francisco’s Fury Factory and Edinburgh Fringe before returning for a run at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival.“With ‘White Feminist,’ Lee Minora skews and dissects the failings of non-intersectional feminism and the danger of white women’s tears. Lee puts the #metoo movement, liberal guilt, and fake celebrity apologies into a blender and creates a concoction that is as absurdly hilarious as it is painfully true,” says the website. The show will be on stage from September 6, 2018 through September 23, 2018 at The Brick. 579 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211, USAFor details, visit: http://bricktheater.com/Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the show/performer http://www.blouinartinfo.com Founder: Louise Blouin
