Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Amaluna’ at the Royal Albert Hall, London

‘Amaluna,’ a Cirque du Soleil production will be staged at the Royal Albert Hall, London, from January 12, through February 26, 2017.The show has been created and directed by Diane Paulus and is loosely based on William Shakespeare's The Tempest. The story takes place on an island governed by goddesses and during a violent storm a group of men are washed up on shore. Queen Prospera’s daughter Miranda falls in love with a young and brave suitor. The trials of their love form the basis of the play. Amaluna is notable as more than 70% of the cast members are female. The performance is filled with classic Cirque du Soleil routines on aerial straps, teeterboards, uneven bars, and cerceau & water bowls.
