A production of Charlie Parker’s “Yardbird” directed by Ron Daniels will be staged at the Capitol Theater’s Overture Center for the Arts on February 10 and February 12, 2017.After making its debut at the Opera Philadelphia in 2015, the show — which is composed by Daniel Schnyder and Bridgette A. Wimberly — is revived by the Madison Opera, combining the experimental nature of the jazz saxophonist’s work with the traditional structure of the operatic form. Based in New York City in the mid-1950s, the story follows the spirit of Charlie Parker as he revisits the nightclub Birdland determined to write one last masterpiece while reminiscing about his life.
