A production of Strauss’ “Salome” directed by David Paul will be staged at LA Opera in Los Angeles from February 18 through March 19, 2017.Adapted from Oscar Wilde’s scandalous drama of the same name, the one-act opera stars Patricia Racette as the titular character, playing opposite Tomas Tomasson’s doomed prophet John the Baptist. James Conlon conducts the lavish score in David Paul’s new production, showcasing the detail of Straus’s system of leitmotifs while maintaining the ambiguity and abstraction of the original music. “Salome” contains both nudity and violence and parental advisory is recommended.“Strauss: Salome” is on show at the LA Opera, 135 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90012.For details, visit: www.laopera.orgClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the production
