The National Ballet of Canada will present the three-act ballet 'Onegin', to be staged at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, from November 23-27, 2016.Based on the 19th century novel ‘Eugene Onegin,’ by Alexander Pushkin, illustrious South African choreographer John Cranko created one of the most affecting and powerful of all modern narrative ballets. Set to music by Tchaikovsky, 'Onegin', tells the story of the bored Russian aristocrat Eugene Onegin, who meets, seduces and then casually abandons the trusting and innocent Tatiana. Years later, Onegin encounters a much changed, more worldly and self-possessed Tatiana and, finds himself genuinely in love with her but is rejected. With beautifully modulated character development, exquisite choreography and glorious sets and costumes by Santo Loquasto, Onegin is classic balletic storytelling par excellence. The National Ballet will host ‘Onegin Ballet Talk,’ 45 minutes before every show in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. The performance is staged at Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, 145 Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario M5H 4G1.
