Reykjavik in Iceland will be celebrating the “Iceland Airwaves 2016” from November 2 through November 6, 2016.Since its inception in 1999 in an airplane hangar at Reykjavik Airport as a one-off event, “Iceland Airwaves” has come a long way to become one of the coveted platforms for new music in the world, drawing visitors in large numbers to this winter festival. Aiming to showcase new music, from Iceland as well as international acts, the five-day long festival is known as “the hippest long weekend on the annual music-festival calendar.” This year’s edition of the festival will witness performances from more than 200 artists or bands featuring names like Bjork, Lord Pusswhip, Junius Meyvant, Soley, Agent Fresco, Trptych, Warpaint and many more. The festival is accompanied with ‘Wallpoetry,’ where 10 musicians and 10 street artists collaborate to create exceptional song interpretations adorning the house walls in the city, connecting creative minds outside the gallery or recording studio.Iceland Airwaves 2016 will take place across multiple venues in the city of Reykjavik.
