The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) is screening "Legacy of Tana Bhagat" at the auditorium of the Media Centre on August 12 in New Delhi.Directed by Shri Saurabh Kishore, the film is about the social reformer Tana Bhagat (1888-1918), a community leader from Chota Nagpur in Jharkhand who stood against the widespread superstition about the Indian state of Jharkhand among tribal communities. Bhagat was a preacher of non-violence within the community. The protagonist fought against the British when India was under British rule by forming and leading the group Tana Panthis.The film is in a docu-drama format, and the screening is part of the IGNCA’s bi-monthly Film Circle program.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the film.
