The film “Bangistan” by first-time director and ex-film critic Karan Anshuman is an upcoming satirical comedy starring Riteish Deshmukh and Pulkit Samrat (“Fukrey”). Set to release worldwide on July 31, 2015, the trailer of the film is out now, and hints at a laugh riot revolving around two blundering suicide bombers. Deshmukh and Samrat play misguided fanatics from opposing terror groups based out of the fictional state of Bangistan, willing to die for their respective religions and the ubiquitous ‘cause’. The trailer leaves you with outlandish stills and stunning visuals that make you want to watch out for the film.Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment and Junglee Pictures, “Bangistan” was mostly shot in Poland, with a 38-day intensive shoot in Kraków, and the rest of the film in Benaras and Ladakh in India. With Polish cinematographer Szymon Lenkowski on board, shoot locations included such exotic sites as the space station-like Alvernia Studios outside Kraków and the mud-brick temple at Basgo Gompa in Ladakh.Music director and composer Ram Sampath, known for the soundtracks of “Delhi Belly” and “Talaash”, has composed six songs for the film including “No Shanti, Only Kranti”, a version of which plays in the trailer. Writer-director Anshuman says, “Bangistan is a tale of mistaken identity of two unlikely terrorists, the antithesis of each other, with a common goal. It’s satire, it’s comic. But not slapstick. It’s got strong themes and a message to deliver.”
