“Dust to Dust” will be on stage at Goteborgs Operan, Sweden. This new dance work by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui will be presented along with the Swedish premier for “Solo Echo” by Crystal Pite, October 12 - December 14, 2018.Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s dance work is a co-production with Eastman. He is a famous Belgian dancer as well as choreographer. He is credited with 50 and more choreographic pieces. He is the recipient of two Laurence Olivier Awards for Best New Dance Production besides three Ballet Tanz awards for being the best choreographer and the KAIROS Prize.“The Belgian-Moroccan choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui wins award by award while the world’s Danish companies fight to attract him to create new works for them. Now he creates the third chapter in collaboration with GoteborgsOperans Danskompani, which began with the airy symmetrical ‘Noetic’(2014), followed by the least-terrestrial ‘Icon’ (2016), with 3.5 tonnes of clay on the stage,” says the Goteborgs Operan website. As per the website, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui along with his team creates a work of art about all that nothing is. “Empty, memories, longing, love. The self-esteem we attribute to ourselves and our reality is an illusion,” says the website. The work is created together with the artist Hans Op de Beeck, praised for his beautiful and imaginative concrete sculptures. His realistic scenography both contrasts with and captures the immaterial gravity. Just like in “Noetic” and “Icon,” musicians and singers participate in the scene to create the entirety of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s signum. The Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite creates few works for selected companies. In her first meeting with GoteborgsOperans Danskompani, she lets the dancers take on “Solo Echo,” which she created in 2012 for the Dutch Dance Theater, where she is a home choreographer. “’Solo Echo’ interacts with two sonatas for cello and piano by melancholist Johannes Brahms. Together with soft falling snowflakes, anxieties arise about the winter’s vodka. The powerful, refined movements of the dancers capture the perishability of life, and our acceptance of the loss of life,” says the website. It will be quite a sight to witness the legendary dance moves from two of the great choreographers who have rocked the world in the recent times! The show will be on stage from October 12, 2018 through December 14, 2018 at Christina Nilssons gata, 411 04 Goteborg, Sweden. For details, visit: https://sv.opera.se/forestallningar/dust-to-dust-2018-2019/Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the show http://www.blouinartinfo.com Founder: Louise Blouin
