Suzann Mclean announced as New Artistic Director of Theatre Peckham

Theatre Peckham recently announced the appointment of Suzann McLean as their new Artistic Director through an official release. McLean takes up the role on September 3, 2018 taking over from Teresa Early who stepped down, earlier this year, after 33 years.“Suzann McLean is an award winning actress. She is an associate artist at York Theatre Royal, associate of both Pilot Theatre and the young people’s work at Theatre Royal Stratford East. She is the founder and director of the award-winning Theatre School Young and Talented which is now in its 14th year. McLean was selected as a Torchbearer for the 2012 Olympics in recognition of her work for the community,” says the release.As per the release, Suzann McLean said: “I am thrilled to be joining Theatre Peckham at this exciting time when it has an impressive new building to serve its local community…It’s wonderful that support from Arts Council England and the Borough of Southwark means we can build on the theatre’s reputation for staging great shows and reach out further to the excitingly diverse communities of South East London. I firmly believe that theater does change lives and am proud to be championing the cause, in all its forms, as the new Artistic Director of Theatre Peckham.”Sioban Whitney-Low Chair of Trustees, Theatre Peckham said of the appointment, “As Chair of Theatre Peckham, I am thrilled to welcome Suzann McLean to the team. Suzann’s rich experience in working with children and young people — directing, writing and producing — ensures she will carry forward the outstanding legacy of our founder, Teresa Early. Suzann brings a wealth of experience of working with children and young people through her own company, Young and Talented, and more widely with Theatre Royal Stratford East, Pilot Theatre and NT connections.
