Jude Law is excited about his new role of Albus Dumbledore in the sequel to “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” the Harry Potter spin-off. In a recent interview with the BBC, Law said that though he is pretty excited about portraying Dumbledore, he’s a bit afraid at the same time. He said: “I think all good jobs have an element of fear because you want to do well and please people and please yourself.”The two-times Oscar nominated actor follows in the footsteps of Richard Harris and Sir Michael Gambon — both of whom played the role of Harry’s headmaster in the Potter films. But Law, who is currently starring in Ivo van Hove’s play “Obsession,” which is running at the Barbican Centre, said he did not have much time to think about the role owing to his theater commitments.Speculations have been rife over the direction of the movie and whether Law’s Dumbledore will be openly gay. To this the actor replied: “My first port of call is to speak to J.K. Rowling and find out who he is and who she wants him to be, to learn a little bit more about her vision of this great man as a young man.”The new trailer of “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” has been revealed and it gives us great footage of Jude Law as a young Albus Dumbledore. The trailer debuted at 2018 Comic-Con on July 21 with most of the film’s cast being in attendance. At the end of the first film, Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp), the powerful Dark wizard was captured by the MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America) with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, as fortune would have it, Grindelwald got lucky and managed to escape custody and by now has set a good gathering of followers. His agenda is to raise pure-blood wizards that shall enable him to rule over all non-magical beings.Albus Dumbledore (Law) sets out to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, for which he enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help oblivious of all the dangers that lie ahead. The battle becomes intense as love and loyalty are tested, even among the best of friends and family in an increasingly divided macabre world of wizardry.
