UGC Cine Cite, Nancy, Paris will be holding a special preview of the upcoming French film “Photo de Famille” (Family Photo) on August 2, 2018.Directed by Cecilia Rouaud, “Photo de Famille” traces the lives of siblings Gabrielle, Elsa and Mao, who do not get along with each other. The film explores the fact that how even the closest of human relationships can turn futile if they are left un-nurtured. The characters go into a mode of self discovery where they realize that life is too short to be sad and resentful about the past.Gabrielle is a "statue" for tourists, which is a very disappointing for his teenage son. Elsa is angry, not just with herself but with the whole world as it seems - her anger hits an all time high when she discovers that she is pregnant. Mao is a video game designer, who is a victim of his own mind. He does not know how and where to channelize his innovative thoughts. He isolates himself from the world and develops severe depression. Mao finds solace in alcohol and needs to undergo psychoanalysis every now and then. As for their parents, Pierre and Claudine have been separated for a long time and neither of them have not done anything to bring their family closer. As it is said, the height of tragedy often converts in to comedy; that is what happens in “Photo de Famille.” A time comes when in spite of not wanting to, they all to get together for the funeral of the siblings’ grandfather. More than being sad over the old man’s death, they all seem to be preoccupied just with one question "What to do with Mamie?”. The siblings are not too happy to meet each other at the funeral of their grandfather. Sadly, their grandmother does not recognize many people, not even her son Pierre.Pierre and Claudine are of the opinion that this is the right time to place the old lady in a retirement home. Elsa, somehow feels terrified by the idea and insists that she would like to be taken to Saint Julien, where the family has lived some happy moments in the past.As a young filmmaker Cecilia Rouaud is known to explore social themes with a hint of satire and humor. Her previous work as writer have been noteworthy in films like “Full Rabbit” (Short film),” I was very small” (Short film), “The Delights of the World” and “A life elsewhere.” “Photo de Famille” has Vanessa Paradis, Camille Cottin, Pierre Deladonchamps, Jean-Pierre Bacri and Chantal Lauby playing the lead roles.
