Spike Lee’s much anticipated film BLacKkKLasman will soon hit the screens at Paris’ Max Linder Panorama. The film is set in the early 1970s, in the backdrop of the American civil rights struggle which was at its peak at the time. Several communal riots broke out in the big cities of the United States. In such circumstances, Ron Stallworth becomes the first Black American officer of the Colorado Springs Police Department. Obviously he is not welcomed by his superiors or colleagues and is greeted with a fair deal of animosity and skepticism.Ron also has to bear with the outright hostility by the lower-ranking officers of the police station. He resolves not to step back and gathers himself with courage in both hands. Ron gradually endeavors to blur the lines that have thrown him apart from his peers and leave an important mark in the story. He then sets himself on a mission of the most dangerous kind; to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan which is known for its notoriety. This American crime dramedy film co-written and directed by Lee, is based on the autobiographical book Black Klansman by Ron Stallworth. The film stars John David Washington, Adam Driver, Laura Harrier and Topher Grace, and has been jointly produced by Raymond Mansfield, Shaun Redick, Sean McKittrick, Jason Blum, Jordan Peele and Lee himself. BLacKkKLasman premiered on May 14, 2018 at the Cannes Film Festival, where it competed for the Palme d'Or and won the Grand Prix. The film is scheduled to release in the United States on August 10, 2018.The idea of making the film was conceived in 2015 when Shaun Redick, a film producer, took Stallworth’s book Black Klansman to QC Entertainment where they then started adapting it into a film screenplay. After the mighty success of Get Out in 2017, which QC had helped produce, they once again teamed up with Jason Blum's company Blumhouse Productions and Jordan Peele's company Monkeypaw Productions to produce the film. The same year in September, it was announced that Spike Lee had been signed on to direct and John David Washington was in negotiations to star as the leading man. Next month, Adam Driver, Topher Grace, Laura Harrier, and Corey Hawkins had joined the cast. Then In November, Paul Walter Hauser, Ryan Eggold  and Jasper Paakkonen, joined the cast. Ashlie Atkinson was the last member to be roped in.Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian gave the film three out of five stars. Bradshaw wrote in his review, "It's an entertaining spectacle but the brilliant tonal balance in something like Jordan Peele's satire Get Out leaves this looking a little exposed. Yet it responds fiercely, contemptuously to the crassness at the heart of the Trump regime and gleefully pays it back in its own coin."The film opens on August 22, 2018 at The Max Linder Panorama, 24, Poissonniere Boulevard, 75009 ParisFor details, visit: www.maxlinder.comClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the film.http://www.blouinartinfo.com                                 Founder: Louise Blouin
