Across the entire season, once every month, The Edye will transform into a club scene that would feature all the up-and-coming jazz & blues artists about whom you’ll to know more. The Reverend Shawn Amos and the house band are all set to perform at select blackbox @ the edye shows.This is a one of its kind unique convergence of performances from the clubs of West Coast, to Deep South joints, to European festivals, to YouTube, to the gargantuan podcast world of podcast, the Reverend Shawn Amos’ endeavor of bringing back the pleasant blues is reaching an ever-increasing flock. The concept has to be attributed to The Rev’s relentless passion to bring together people through music. His characteristic blend of black roots music, R & B, and stripped down rock n’ roll brings an invigorating, soul-deep musical experience to audiences starved for musical genuineness and connection. In the Rev’s own words “I derive a lot of satisfaction bringing people joy.”Born in 1967, Reverend Shawn Ellis Amos has many feathers on his hat. He is a songwriter, blues singer, record producer and digital marketing entrepreneur. Thank You Shirl-ee May, his most popular album released in 2005. The album was created as a tribute his mother, who worked as a nightclub singer and used the name "Shirl-ee May" at her job. The Reverend is the youngest son of Wally Amos, the Famous Amos chocolate chip cookie founder and the only son of Shirlee Ellis.Throughout Rev Amos' childhood and adulthood, he saw his mother suffer from a psychiatric disorder. Her mental illness could not be cured and she committed suicide in 2003. The trauma of his mother’s death and the eventual discovery of her early singing career inspired Rev Amos to release the album Thank You Shirl-ee in May, 2005.People got to know more about the Rev’s life after The Huffington Post, in 2011 released the first installment of a four-part series chronicling his childhood in Los Angeles during the 1970’s. His mother’s loss to a mental illness made brought him close to the subject and the stigmas associated with it. Rev Amos serves the Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services as one of the Board of Directors. He married actress Marta Martin in 1999 and the couple have three children. They live in Los Angeles.The Rev first shot to prominence in the music world when his song "Angel in Black" was placed in the Miramax film The Prophecy.Today, Rev Amos is a highly regarded figure in American music.
