A drama performance titled “Monk Jianzhen's Journey to Japan” presented by Jiangsu Arts Performing Group Opera Commission will be staged at the Opera House, NCPA, Beijing from February 5 through February 6, 2017. The show, by means of historical details exquisitely presents the historic narrative of the Chinese-Japanese cultural exchange. At the solicitation of Japanese monks in AD 742, Master Jianzhen, a renowned monk of the era, consecutively set foot on the trek to Japan six times and after infinite adversities reached Japan in AD 754. He carried along with him several books and cultural remnants to Japan in order to proclaim the cultural triumphs of the Tang Dynasty.The show will be staged at the Opera House, National Centre for the Performing Arts, No.2 West Chang'an Avenue, Xicheng District, Beijing, P.
