Theatre Ranelagh presents Le CID, a famous five-act French tragicomedy written by Pierre Corneille, which will run through January 15, 2017 in Paris.‘Le CID’ was first performed in January 1636 at the Théâtre du Marais in Paris and is based on Guillén de Castro's play ‘Las mocedades del Cid,’ published in 1618. Chimene and Rodrigue love each other madly. Like Romeo and Juliet, their destiny is thwarted by their respective families. Audiences are in the heart of a history of flesh and blood: passion, vengeance and betrayal which carry emotions to their climax in this epic piece. We are in Castile where "honor is a duty, love is a pleasure."
