Bernardo Bertolucci’s Academy award winning film, 'The Last Emperor', will be screened at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, on January 1 and January 6, 2017.‘The Last Emperor’ won nine Academy Awards for 1987, sweeping every category in which it was nominated. The power and scope of the film was, and remains, undeniable as it tells the story of Emperor Pu Yi, who took the throne in 1908 at age 3. He would go on to witness decades of cultural and political upheaval, within and without the walls of the Forbidden City. Re-creating the Ching dynasty of China with astonishing detail, The Last Emperor is also an intimate character study of one man reconciling personal responsibility and political legacy. The film will be screened at The Museum of Fine Arts, 1001 Bissonnet, Houston, Texas 77005. For details, visit, www.mfah.orgClick on the Slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
