“Don Pasquale” is being performed at NCPA, Beijing, till December 4, 2016.Created by composer Donizetti in 1842, this famous Italian three-act comic opera tells the story of mean and wealthy Pasquale who finds love late in his life. Merging witty humor with lively and vivid music, no wonder “Don Pasquale” is considered the representative of romantic opera. The version being performed at NCPA, Beijing, was created in 2014 by international opera director Pier Francesso Maestrini and NCPA’s stage design director GAO Guangjian. This version is set in the 1930s era of Hollywood movie age instead of the original setting of Western Europe, thus making the characters more personable and creating a more relatable story for Chinese audiences. The performance is at North Gate of NCPA, No. 2 West Chang'an Avenue, Xicheng District, Beijing, China. For details, visit: http://en.chncpa.org/whatson/zdyc/201609/t20160928_161070.shtml Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the performance.
