‘The Little Match Girl’ marks the return of celebrated director and choreographer Arthur Pita to the Lilian Baylis Studio, London, this Christmas with his magical dance theater show that will run from December 10 through December 30, 2016.The play is based on the short story by Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen. The story is of an impoverished street girl’s desires and hopes, as she tries to sell matches on the streets on a cold Christmas Eve. How she lights match after match to keep her warm and has visions of her grandmother, who was the only person in the world to ever show her any sort of kindness, forms the crux of the play recreated through dance, music, songs, and live music. The play is a Sadler Wells production and tickets are available. The play is being staged at Lilian Baylis Studio, Rosebery Avenue, London, EC1R.
