The Japan Foundation, Delhi presents Performing Folk  Art, Shishi-Odori (Deer Dance), scheduled for September 21, 2016. Shishi-Odori is a prominent folk performing art still practiced in Japan's Tohoku region. It is performed as part of rituals in occasions like requiems, memorial service for ancestral spirits, or even to purify evil spirits. At times, it could be an expression of gratitude for a splendid harvest. The Delhi show will have the Gyozan School Maikawa Shishi Odori group performing in the Drum Dance style. The dance troupe will feature Koichi Sato, Shutaro Koiwa, Takeshi Yoshida and Kousuke Hachiya. The performance will be at Meghdoot 1, Sangeet Natak Akademi, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi.
