Margaret Jenkins Dance Company will perform a commissioned rendition (Inside Outside) in dialogue with Kambui Olujimi’s exhibition, “What Endures,” at Catharine Clark Gallery, San Francisco, on September 17, 2016, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.The performance is a response to Kambui Olujimi’s work and will begin at 3 pm with a prologue in the main gallery space. The choreography involves a series of dance solos, duets, and trios performed on Olujimi’s sculpture of interlocking platforms. Inspired by the dance marathons of the 1930s, the artist’s work serves as a stage for different events taking place during Box Blur, a six-week program of performance, word, and dance, including this event. Founded in 1973, the Margaret Jenkins Dance Company has been an active part of the San Francisco cultural scene for over three decades. They are known for developing programs that support and process choreographic mentorship and performance opportunities. The event promises a chance to view the conversation that takes place between Margaret Jenkins Dance Company and Olujimi’s “What Endures” and an afternoon of exceptional dance performances.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the performance
