His recipe book though, was lost for centuries, until it’s accidentally found by Chi-ming (Wang Po-chieh). Having lost a custody battle for his five-year-old daughter Lele, he is on the run when he encounters the Chiang family, including Chi Bao (Lorene Ren), and faces decisions that will affect his own family future, while he connects with cooking together with the Chiangs. At the Okinawa International Movie Festival, actress Lorene Ren says the cooking scenes united the crew as much as the cast. “We took three hours for one scene which only played 12 seconds!” she says.“I come from a very loving family, so I love that kind of family life and I hope that the audience can feel the same way.”Director Fung Kai and Ren discuss food and Taiwanese culture in an exclusive video interview for ARTINFO.
