Christie’s latest online sale is offering cinephiles a chance to be James Bond – or, well, at least to own some of Bond’s things. In an online sale launched February 16 and lasting till February 23, items such as “JB” cufflinks made by Tom Ford, a classic martini shaker, and a leather gun holster are going under the hammer at the auction house. All proceeds will to charity, benefitting organizations including Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), and One to One Children's Fund. There are 14 lots on offer in the online sale, comprising props from ‘Spectre,’ the 24th Bond film that was released in late 2015, that were used and worn by actors such as Daniel Craig, Jesper Christensen, Christoph Waltz and Lea Seydoux.Christie’s has previously auctioned Bond paraphernalia for charity, first with the '50 Years of James Bond' charity auction in 2012, and followed by the 'Goldfinger' online charity sale in 2014.Wearable highlights include a pair of Tom Ford’s “Snowdon” sunglasses worn by Craig, and an Omega 300 limited-edition watch, that comes personalized with an engraved message by Christensen. Elsewhere, there is the Moroccan lair costume that was worn by Waltz, who plays the villain Oberhauser in the film.Meanwhile, tech gadgets include the cell phone that Bond gave to Moneypenny, as well as the laptop used by Q (played by Ben Whishaw). For fans of gory details, the metal thumb “nails” that Hinx (played by Dave Bautista) used to gouge out the eyes of an unfortunate member of the Spectre organization, is also up for grabs. To view some highlighted lots and their estimates, click on the slideshow.
