The 11th annual music festival of SaMaPa, the non-profit Sopori Academy of Music and Performing Arts, will held at New Delhi’s Kamani Auditorium on Copernicus Marg from November 20 through 22. SaMaPa 2015 will present some of the legends of Hindustani classical music as also members of the new generation of musicians, hailing from all the top gharanas of music such as Dilli, Banaras, Maihar, Gwalior, Ajrada, Gaya and the Sufiana gharana of Kashmir.On all the three evenings, the concerts will begin at 6.30 pm.On Friday, November 20, Pandit Bhajan Sopori and Abhay Rustom Sopori of the Sufiana gharana of Kashmir will present a Santoor recital. This will be followed by a vocal recital by three stalwarts of the Dilli gharana — Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan, Tanveer Ahmed Khan and Anis Ahmed Khan.Saturday, November 21, will witness a Tabla and Pakhawaj recital by luminaries of the Ajrada and Gaya gharana. These are Ustad Hashmat Ali Khan, Akram Khan, Pandit Ravi Shankar Upadhyay and Rishi Shankar Upadhyay. This will be followed by a vocal recital by Pandit Rajan-Sajan Mishra and Ritesh-Rajnish Mishra of the Banaras gharana. The concluding evening of Sunday, November 22, will begin with a vocal recital by the renowned father-daughter duo of the Gwalior gharana — Pandit LK Pandit and Meeta Pandit. This will be followed by a recital of the Mohan and Satvik Veena by Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and Salil Bhatt of the Maihar gharana. Three upcoming talents in the field will also get a rare opportunity to share stage with the stalwarts at this festival. Tanushree Kashyap will present a vocal recital on November 20 whereas Bipul Kumar Ray will present a Santoor recital on November 21. On November 22, Sachin Sharma will present a Tabla recital.The accompanists throughout the festival will be Abhishek Mishra, Babar Latif, Dinesh Kashyap, Himansu Mahant, Mithilesh Jha, Shubh Maharaj (Tabla), Ghulam Mohammad, Ghanshyam Sisodia (Sarangi), Bimal Kashyap, Kanta Prasad Mishra, Vinay Mishra, Zakir Dhaulpuri (Harmonium) and Asghar Hussain (Violin).— The SaMaPa festival will be held at Kamani Auditorium, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi, from November 20 - 22.Follow@ARTINFOIndia
