Rated by Time Magazine as one of 50 Authentic American Experiences, MusicfestNW celebrates its 15th anniversary this month. The annual summer music festival held in Portland, Oregon, which was known as the North by Northwest festival up till 2001, returns with an exciting lineup. Twenty-two artists will perform across two stages, at this three-day weekend festival held between August 21 and August 23, 2015, at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park, its new home in the heart of downtown Portland as of last year. Before 2014, the event was held across various venues in the city, but in its new two-stage open-air avatar, the MusicfestNW or the MFNW continues to be one of Portland’s largest and longest-running festivals. In the past, it has witnessed spectacular performances by The National, Thundercat, Tune-Yards, The Black Keys, The Decemberists, Vampire Weekend, TV On The Radio, The Hives, Animal Collective, and others.Headlining the festival this year are big banner names such as the Los Angeles-based dance pop band Foster The People, Washington indie rockers Modest Mouse, indie rock/world music act Beirut and Scottish indie pop group Belle and Sebastian. The lineup also includes Detroit rapper Danny Brown, Swedish folk singer-songwriter The Tallest Man on Earth, Brooklyn new wave musician Twin Shadows, and experimental rock group Battles. These artists cover the span of modern musical subgenres between rock, pop, hip-hop and folk.MFNW is also presenting a few evening shows ahead of, and in addition, to the main event. Starting Wednesday, August 19th, will be the official MusicFestNW Kickoff Party with performances by artists Aesop Rock, Miguel, Shlohmo, Nick Waterhouse, Fucked Up, The Helio Sequence, Just Lions, Bearcubbin, Brothers and Sister and Divers, amongst others.  For the past four years, MusicfestNW also runs in conjunction with TechfestNW, a gathering of leading thinkers in the fields of technology, design, entrepreneurship and innovation. The event that showcases Portland as a digital and cultural hub, will be held at Revolution Hall on August 20 - August 21, 2015.
