The Improvised Shakespeare Company will be performing at Largo at the Coronet on the 21st and 22nd of August. Though many comedy shows become popular; not all of them enjoy sustained longevity. It appears that these talented performers are just getting better with each performance. The Chicago Tribune did a detailed analysis of what makes this improv “clique” click so well. An article published by them a few months back reveals that what makes these guys so enduring is the fact that they are really very very good at what they do.Improv is not easy and when it’s made to look so effortless, there must be a method working behind it. It implies that the cast possesses a working knowledge of Shakespearean tropes and verbiage, for the way they deliver it without any pause. The result is a brand new form of theatre that leaves you spellbound. This particular format needs performers who are fast thinkers, can jump on their feet in a flash and before you wonder what they are up to! they are already in the middle of their act. Blaine Swen, who has been associated with the company since quite some time now; as creator and director closely monitors the show and comes back to perform with them once a month.Swen has filled the company's ranks with young men who are profoundly smart about the many ways that needs them to be highly silly within the Shakespearean texts. If you have never seen them, this is the time to visit one of the city's most consistently funny improv shows; a show that has launched the career of at least one actor you all would recognize from the troupe; Thomas Middleditch, the "Silicon Valley" star who still tours with the show often. So, how does the show begin? Well! Someone from the audience just throws a random suggestion and that becomes the play’s title and then the cast is off to the races. A fully improvised two-act play unfolds, and while it may appear that what’s happening on stage bears little resemblance to the suggested title, you need to hang in for a while. The actors will find a way to get there. The cast of five changes from night to night, with about 15 actors rotating in and out. Everyone gets his moment. Some of the actors are simply great and come armed with a dry sense of humor. They all have their own special set. Suddenly, one actor takes over who has the confidence to break away from the Bard’s traditional rhyming syntax with: "The sight of your stupid English face and your dumb British clothes is enough to set a rage in my purely French heart."There are some Shakespearean dialogue rhymes, but not always. They understand exactly how to create multidimensional characters in a split -second. Puns are thrown around, scripts are made impromptu, gigs meet skits, and monologues turn into jokes. All this making one forget the fact that this isn’t pre-rehearsed at all. It’s just Improv at its best. The show is on August 21, 2018 and August 22, 2018 at Largo at the Coronet, N La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CAFor details, visit https://www.largo-la.com/Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the performance.http://www.blouinartinfo.com Founder: Louise Blouin
