Inspired by displays, exhibitions, and artwork at Tate, the program “Late at Tate Britain” invites visitors to explore the gallery after hours, with music, workshops, performance food and drink. Scheduled on August 3, 2018, “Late at Tate Britain: Kabocha” will allow visitors experience a mix of creatives responding to Anthea Hamilton’s large-scale artwork at “The Squash.”The event starts with a presentation by “Reprezent Soundsystem.”“The voice of young London Reprezent 107.3 FM are our resident DJs for 2018. Including a DJ line up curated by ALPHABEATS,” writes Tate. Viewers can tune into the music from Complexion, Maxwell & Brother Portrait, Morenight, and Yozu.Lined up next is “Black in the Day,” a digital design and poetry workshop that explores an amazing archive of family photographs of the black British experience in the UK.Visitors can also part in a storytelling-themed plate painting workshop with illustrator Eliza Hopewell, followed by a workshop inspired by David Robilliard’s short and witty poems. In the workshop, “Porcelain Painting,” explores how Greek myths and legends were displayed on plates and pottery. A comedy workshop with Logan Murray is also lined up.“Late at Tate Britain: Kabocha” also has in its schedule three performances — “The People’s Depot,” “Akeim Toussaint Buck,” and “Homecoming.”Referring to “The People's Depot,” the museum writes “Tate Britain was built on the site of the notorious Millbank Prison. Join this immersive theatrical experience unlocking stories from various archives, created by Elizabeth Jankowski and Francesca Scott,” says Tate.“Homecoming” is an immersive storytelling intervention by London-based actress and playwright Yolanda Mercy and writer Angela Wereko-Anderson.“The Squash” is a discussion by Anthea Hamilton whose exhibition by the same name is on view at the museum. The talk will see the artist in conversation with the performers of the show.An intimate experience with Paula Rego, known for her paintings and prints based on storybooks, is lined up at a display at Modern Print Room. At “Show and Tell: Anthea Hamilton and Researching Performance,” a simultaneous show, visitors can experience live art, food, dance, and the work of Anthea Hamilton.
