As part of their Bandito Tour, Twenty One Pilots make a grand return to the stage at Madison Square Garden this October. The band was formed by Tyler Joseph, Nick Thomas and Chris Salih in 2009. Thomas and Salih left in 2011, and currently the band is run by Joseph and drummer Josh Dun. The duo shot to fame in the mid-2010 after several years of touring and independent work. Their two self-released albums, Twenty One Pilots came in 2009, followed by Regional at Best in 2011. Impressed with their work, next year they were signed on by Fueled by Ramen. Their label debut, Vessel released in 2013. Their breakthrough success came in 2015 with Blurryface, their fourth album which comprised of the successful singles "Stressed Out" and "Ride". In addition, their single "Heathens", which they recorded for the soundtrack of the film Suicide Squad, made Twenty One Pilots the first alternative artist to have two simultaneous top ten singles in the U.S. The duo has won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. With humble beginnings, the band initially played for audiences at clubs and venues around the Columbus area. Playing at metal, hardcore, and electronic venues encouraged Joseph to incorporate these different styles into his songwriting. To grab the attention of disinterested or new attendees and promoters, Twenty One Pilots began experimenting with costumes and on-stage acrobatics. In 2016, they featured as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live where they performed orchestra-accompanied versions of "Heathens" and "Ride" in what the Rolling Stone magazine called their "most high profile performance yet".The band later performed a medley of "Heathens" and "Stressed Out" at the 2016 American Music Awards. Joseph and Dun also accepted their first awards on American television for Favorite Pop/Rock Duo and Favorite Alternative Rock Artist. In the end of 2016, the band released a limited-edition live vinyl album titled Blurryface Live, documenting their two performances at Fox Oakland Theatre.Joseph and Dun also collaborated with alternative rock band Mutemath, for a five-song EP called TOPxMM, which contained remixes and reimaginings of five tracks from Blurryface. The EP was uploaded onto the Twenty One Pilots’ official website. It is a 25 minute long video showing the bands recording their songs live in studio. The video also released on their YouTube channel. In an interview with Alternative Press in 2016, Twenty One Pilots had said they will be "going dark" to focus on new music. Joseph stated that he would consciously focus on the music’s lyrical content and will try bringing back the "authenticity, lyrics, delivery, and fearlessness of songwriting," the traits with which he ventured into the music industry. The concert is on October 30, 2018 at Madison Square Garden, 4 Pennsylvania Plaza, New York, NY 10001For details, visit: www.msg.comClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at a Twenty One Pilots performance. http://www.blouinartinfo.com Founder: Louise Blouin
