Opéra Bastille, Paris, presents Franz Lehair's 'La Veuve Joyeuse' (The Merry Widow) which will run from September 9 through October 21, 2017.The libretto has been penned by Victor Léon and Leo Stein after the comedy of Henri Meilhac, 'L'Attaché d'embassade' (1861). Vienna's definitive romantic operetta has enjoyed international stardom and success since its premiere in 1905. Till date, it continues to be reinterpreted and staged, while film and other adaptations have also been made. La Veuve Joyeuse is the story of a rich widow, and her people's attempt to keep her money in the principality by searching for the right husband.The opera will be performed at Opéra Bastille, Place de la Bastille, 75012 Paris, France.
