Opéra de Lyon will stage “Le Couronnement de Poppée,” an Italian opera originally written by Claudio Monteverdi, from March 7 through March 11, 2017.Monteverdi is sublime for a story where love, conspiracies and politics are mingled with murders, repudiations and exile. It is at this price that the monsters love... Nero is the husband of Octavia when the sulphurous Poppea crosses his path. All oppose their liaison: Othon lover of Poppea, Octavia, the virtuous wife forsaken or the old philosopher Seneca, who tries to reason with the Emperor, but no one can oppose the ambitious designs of Poppea, when she is resolved to triumph. The opera will be directed by great German director Klaus Michael Gruber, with music from the chef Sébastien d'Hérin and his orchestra Les Nouveaux Caractères, with the artists of the Studio de l'Opéra de Lyon. The opera is at Opéra de Lyon, Place de la Comédie F - 69001 Lyon.
