Opera de Lyon is staging “Jeanne at the Stake,” the last moments of an exalted and anguished Joan of Arc set to music by Arthur Honegger and in poetry by Paul Claudel. The performance is current until February 3, 2017.Joan of Arc at the stake, she sees her life flash. Eleven paintings to trace her story, 11 pages of the book of her life evoked sheet by sheet with brother Dominique, while the fire is preparing. From the infamous judgment of a court directed by animals to its carefree childhood, it is wounded France and the epic of the Maid who are evoked in revolt amid the cries of hatred of a hostile crowd, forever impenetrable for the innocent Jeanne.
