This year’s Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA), running August 6-September 19, features a line-up of socially conscious and historically relevant performances in light of the 50th anniversary of the country. More than 60 related events curated around the theme of “POST-Empires” by festival director Ong Keng Sen will ask audiences to examine the past in order to forge a conscious future.The festival also promises a more diverse offering of events with performances including theater performed in private living rooms of citizens, to dramatic musical numbers drawing on the nation’s cultural roots.
