Scottish alternative rock band from East Kilbride ‘The Jesus and Mary Chain’ will perform live at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire, London, on April 5, 2017.The band was founded in 1983 and revolves around the songwriting partnership of brothers Jim and William Reid. The band’s early influences include ‘The Velvet Underground,’ ‘The Stooges’ and ‘The Shangri-Las.’ Their single "Upside Down" topped the UK Indie Chart in February 1985 and then again in March and stayed on the chart for 76 weeks, selling around 35,000 copies in total, making it one of the biggest-selling indie singles of the 1980s. Their debut album ‘Psychocandy’ is considered to be a significant album in indie rock history.
