National Opera & Ballet presents “Between East and West,” directed by Johan Simons. The show will be on view till January 26, 2017.“Between East and West” has the theme of forgiveness, which remains highly topical. This is an unconventional work for that time, about people of flesh and blood. Director Johan Simons has created an intimate colorful political drama tinged with humor. This play with music by Mozart, about the kidnapping of a harem, was appreciated by the Viennese aristocracy. They were, however, not enthusiastic about the surprising twist given to the noble Muslim who releases the prisoners instead of seeking revenge. The play is being staged at Amstel 3, 1011 PN Amsterdam, Netherlands. For details, visit: www.operaballet.nlClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the show.
