Batsheva’s dancers will perform “Last Work,” yet another masterwork from Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin. The stage performance is scheduled on January 11, 2017 and January 12, 2017.Batsheva Dance Company was founded as a repertory company in 1964 by Batsheva de Rothschild who enlisted Martha Graham as its first artistic adviser. Since 1989, Batsheva Dance Company has been in residence at the Suzanne Dellal Centre in Tel Aviv. Hailed as one of the world's pre-eminent contemporary choreographers, Ohad Naharin assumed the role of Artistic Director in 1990, and propelled the company into a new era with his adventurous curatorial vision and distinctive choreographic voice. “Last Work,” shifts from sustained, meditative movement to frenzied bursts of energy. Leaving the title and the work itself open to interpretation, Naharin’s potently emotional new piece is at times overtly political, at times elliptically puzzling. The performance will be staged at National Arts Centre, Theatre, 1 Elgin Street, at Confederation Square, Ottawa, Ontario.
