“Cinema Matters Part 1: Industrial Light & Magic,” a series of film screenings, part of the Film in Focus section initiative of the Barbican Centre, London, will run from January 12, through February 11, 2017.The screenings examine the significance of film and the moving image in a six-part series titled Cinema Matters. Part 1: Industrial Light and Magic, and looks at the technology and business of film production and its implications for storytelling, including two films from celebrated essayist Thom Andersen and the original sci-fi game watershed anime film Ghost in the Shell. Film in Focus will celebrate the power of cinema and its significance across the arts throughout 2017 and brings together a series of world-class arts and learning projects, commissions, and events that celebrate the medium of film.
