Paul McCartney and Metallica are set to headline this year’s Lollapalooza Festival, which returns to Chicago’s Grant Park between July 31 and August 2, 2015. The line-up includes other heavyweight as well as progressive acts such as Florence + the Machine, Sam Smith, alt-J, Alabama Shakes, Of Monsters and Men, TV on the Radio, Cold War Kids, FKA Twigs, Kygo and Marina and the Diamonds.First conceptualized by Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell in 1991 as a touring festival cum farewell tour for his band, Lollapalooza stepped into its current boots only in 2005, when Farrell and his collaborators turned it into a two-day weekend destination festival and based it out of Chicago’s iconic Grant Park. Iconic music bands and artists such as Pearl Jam, The Cure, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Depeche Mode, Coldplay, Nine Inch Nails, Audioslave, Soundgarden, Bjork, The National, Franz Ferdinand, Alice in Chains, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, deadmau5 and Lady Gaga have performed at the event over the years.Since 2010, offshoots of the festival have been staged in various countries in South America, including Chile, Brazil and Argentina, and this year Lollapalooza makes its debut in Europe. It will be held in Germany’s capital city Berlin on September 12-13, 2015, at the historic Tempelhof Airport, one of the oldest commercial airports in the world that is now a public park. For those unable to attend the festival, Lollapalooza Livestream will broadcast the best performances, artist interviews and key backstage moments, through the weekend, exclusively on Red Bull TV. The official Lollapalooza Livestream Lineup and Schedule will be announced shortly, however the Red Bull TV stream can be accessed at www.redbull.tv/lollapalooza, via the app on Android, iOS and Windows phones, and through Apple TV.
